On True Love
True love should be based solely on loving people
Without expecting anything in return,
Without expecting them to show you love,
Perhaps simply because they exist.
Parents should be able to love their children unconditionally,
Without expecting success, marriage, wealth, new generations,
Without seeing them as a source of pride,
They should be able to love.
Children should always be able to love their parents too, even as they grow old;
Except, in cases of cruelty, badness, and injustice.
Can people love their spouse unconditionally?
A friend, a relative, a neighbor?
Just because they exist.
Perhaps not, but perhaps it’s worth trying…
